There a number of enterprise architecture Frameworks & Methods out their today most have their origins from the likes of Steven Spewak “ Enterprise Architecture Planning” James Marin “Information Engineering” and John Zackmans Enterprise Architecture Framework and the now evolving TOGAF. The GRASP methods utilised some of best elements from this thinking, however it applies a set of unique approaches within it that is far ahead and mature in its thinking and practice of developing enterprise architecture blueprints.
There are conceptual generic training course available such as TOGAF 9, however most participants struggle trying to implementing the generic concepts within their own organisations afterwards and they generally have to perform the timely task of develop their own industry reference models to just start the process.
Our approach to training and mentoring is to take the Architects though the process of developing a real blueprint within their own organisation using the GRASP method which has mature enterprise industry architecture reference frameworks and has sets of supporting deliverable templates which accelerate the blueprint development process. The benefits of this approach is that they have a completed relevant blueprint at the end of the process and at the same time have been mentored through a common process so they can maintain it and build more blueprints within their own organisation on their own going forward.
The methodology also applies a number of unique techniques in developing the blueprint. The GRASP application reference architecture is currently the largest single contribution to the TMF Telco Application Map program that is developing the Telco industry stand applications reference architecture.
This is a powerpoint presentation of the GRASP Methodology.
